COVID-secure activities

From Autumn 2020, CMA will undertake a phased return to activities.

Reception to Year 2

The Springers department will restart with small classes so that social distancing can be maintained.

Micro- and Mini-Springers will pay the mini-membership fee of £30 per half-term.

Year 2 Springers will have longer sessions including recorder. Please ensure that you have a recorder as instrument sharing will not be possible. We recommend Aulos yellow-bag recorders (available at a 10% discount from Strings of Penn.) The normal membership fee of £40 per half-term applies. Year 2 Springers who play an orchestral instrument may also apply to join another ensemble (see below.)

Year 3

The Find-Your-Forte scheme cannot be accommodated this term. To ensure that the children continue to develop notation and ensemble skills, the Year 3 choir will also include recorder. Please ensure that you have a recorder as instrument sharing will not be possible. We recommend Aulos yellow-bag recorders (available at a 10% discount from Strings of Penn.) The normal membership fee of £40 per half-term applies. Year 3 students who play an orchestral instrument may also apply to join another ensemble (see below.)

Singers and instrumentalists

A range of graded ensembles will be running, their composition dependant on the number of applicants as we strive to meet our obligations as a COVID-secure organisation. Where possible, these will be timetabled in line with our previous curriculum. The normal membership fee of £40 per half-term applies.

The groups will fall into 4 categories: Choirs, Bands, Orchestras and Jazz Bands. You will be asked to rank your preferences in an online form. Please first ensure that you can make the time of your chosen groups:

Between Sessions

The gaps between sessions are likely to be longer than usual to allow for cleaning. To comply with the requirements, parents and students will be unable to wait inside between sessions. No tuck-shop facility will be available. CMA will be as friendly as ever though, and a staff mamber will be on hand to welcome you and help with any enquiries.

Funding

All the income received from membership fees will be used to run the programme. The length and number of sessions offered will therefore depend on the number of applicants. We hope if possible to offer members 2 groups where desired. The planned return to activities will be reviewed every half-term as we continue to respond to changing guidelines. We hope to slowly return to normal through this flexible approach.

Lessons

No lessons will be taking place on site due to COVID restrictions. Our teachers are giving lessons online. Please note that their term dates may differ from CMA during this period.
