Orchestral High-Flyers

Three CMA students have been playing in the National Children’s Orchestra, and four in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. The National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain and the National Youth Harp Orchestra also have a CMA member on board. To cap it all, three CMA members are attending the Purcell School this year- many congratulations everyone!

Wycombe Orpheus Festival

Congratulations to all the CMA members who were honoured with prizes at the 2017 Orpheus Festival of Young Musicians. Beccy Howitt and Alice Martin (pictured) shared the Senior Vocal Award (no, not an argument- a passionate duet!)

In total, eleven CMA members were first in their class, with two runners-up, fourteen third places and four Highly Commended. The full line-up was as follows:

  • Senior Piano: 1st: James Cozens, equal 3rd: Megan Cave and Will Rose, Highly Commended: Sophia Ahmed
  • Senior Vocal: equal 1st: Alice Martin and Becky Howitt
  • Senior Woodwind: 1st: Arya Pourkarimi, 3rd: Alice Martin
  • Senior Ensemble: 1st: Quintessence (piano quintet including Will Rose, Megan Cave and James Cozens,) 3rd: RGS Trad Jazz Band (James Cozens, Matt Clark, Sam Starkey, Max Tagg, Arya Pourkarimi, Kristian Herath, Oliver Munby, Cameron Goodman and Dan Kimberly) 3rd: Abelice (Alice Martin and Becky Howitt)
